Rating:
8,
Maturity:
The coolest and longest growing season in living memory, with the
Cabernet Sauvignons still being harvested in May (March is more normal).
Spring was wet and early and was followed by wet and humid weather throughout
December. The weather subsequently remained dry. The vintage rewarded the
patient, with those who picked too early making rather thin and unripe wines.
Those with the courage to wait have produced some classically structured,
concentrated wines that possess excellent cellaring potential. The Cabernet
Sauvignon and Shiraz-dominated wines are the most successful.
