The second consecutive very dry and hot vintage - vine stress was a serious problem and the situation was eased as early as February with the arrival of rain. Yields were lower in many varieties than in 1994 and the grapes were harvested with exceptionally high sugar levels.

A very ripe year for big, well-structured and concentrated reds with very good ageing potential.
