Berry Bros & Rudd

2005 Chablis

Rating: 9, Maturity: D

2005 was a classic season, just a little drier than average, but with less vine stress than in the Côte d'Or.

There was no frost in April and May and the flowering in warm and sunny June was rapid, building up to the peak temperatures in August.

There were no hail or disease problems, although some vineyards developed noble rot late in the season which has added an opulent dimension to some wines. Overall the crop is a little below average, producing rich, fruit-laden wines which are relatively approachable early on yet have the acidity and structure to age well
