Maturity:
The weather was very kind to the Loire region in 2002. High
temperatures did make fruit-set difficult and mildew further reduced the crop.
Variable weather in July and August was replaced with dry, sunny days and cool
nights throughout September and October - perfect conditions for
ripening. Volumes are down by around 25% but otherwise the crop is healthy
and very ripe; some great wines have been made.
