A very good vintage to round off Burgundy's amazing run of successful years
during the 1990s. Growing conditions were generally beneficial to growers, with
the period of hot and dry weather at the end of August and during the first 2
weeks of September proving to be the making of the vintage.

1999 White Burgundy
Following the frustration of a small harvest in 1998,
particularly in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, 1999 is an abundant vintage
that has produced wines of balance, freshness and elegance.
Chassagne-Montrachet, from village level upwards, has succeeded in
producing full-bodied, ripe wines that are richly concentrated. Many of the
1999 1er Crus in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet have better
balance and richness than in 1998. With a large crop it is essential to chose
wines from quality orientated producers like Carillon, Pillot, and Jobard, who severely restricted
their yields, thus maximising the quality and flavours of their wines.
