Berry Bros & Rudd

1983 White Bordeaux

Rating: 9, Maturity: W

The best vintage since 1976 and a highly successful year in the sweet wine communes. The weather was hot and dry in June and July, although rain in August and early September did not help the growers. However, there then followed a period of misty mornings followed by warm sunny afternoons, and this continued throughout most of October. Only small quantities of fine wines were produced, with the top wines being powerful, concentrated, and richly aromatic, with good structure and balance. The best are now approaching maturity and will last until 2050.
